The 2026 World Cup knockout stage continues at MetLife Stadium with heavy favorites France clashing with Sweden in a round of 32 matchup.

Les Bleus sailed through Group I undefeated, racking up ten goals across dominant wins over Senegal, Iraq and Norway. Kylian Mbappe is in sensational form with four tournament goals already, as does reigning Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele, who had a hat trick against Norway.

Sweden advanced as one of the best third-place teams out of Group F, bouncing back from a heavy defeat against the Netherlands to secure their knockout spot. Sweden will lean on its attacking tandem of Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyökeres to puncture France's defense.

The winner of this match will face Paraguay in the round of 16 on July 4 in Philadelphia.

The 2026 World Cup is the largest ever, and USA TODAY is going all in with reporters on the ground in all 16 host cities across three countries to cover 48 teams vying for the trophy. France vs Sweden World Cup predictions

Seth Vertelney: France 3-1 Sweden

Sweden has put in good performances in two of its three games so far, but France is an even stronger opponent than the Nethelands, which hammered the Swedes 5-1.

Jon Arnold: France 3-0 Sweden

Sweden's ability at the back already was a weak point, and with Isak Hien out for the rest of the tournament the run will end here as France cruises.

Jesse Yomtov: France 3 - 1 Sweden

France is scoring at will and they may still not have maxed out. This Sweden defense is going to get burned from the opening minutes.

Victoria Hernandez: France 4 - 0 Sweden

France is running on all cylinders and is probably the most well-rounded team in the tournament. Sweden doesn't have a chance.
