For Germany, this is the third consecutive disappointing exit from a World Cup since it won the tournament in 2014. Paraguay will face the winner of the France vs. Sweden match, which is being played on Tuesday, June 30 in East Rutherford, N.J. France was the runner-up at the 2022 World Cup after winning the tournament — the nation's second World Cup title — in 2018. Sweden reached the quarterfinals in the 2018 World Cup, but did not qualify for the 2022 tournament in Qatar.

While France cruised to a first-place finish in Group I, Sweden was one of eight third-place finishers to advance to the round of 32.
