T-Mobile customers vent frustrations during widespread outage
T-Mobile had a widespread outage on July 27, leaving tens of thousands of its customers without service.
The company confirmed in a social media statement after 11 p.m. ET that service had been fully restored. It did not specify what caused the outage.
"We have fully restored service for all customers and sincerely apologize for the difficulties to those who experienced network impacts today," it said. "At @TMobile, we know that customers rely on us to stay connected to what matters most, and we appreciate their understanding as we prioritized resolution."
At its peak, more than 64,000 T-Mobile customers were reporting issues with their service on July 27, according to Downdetector, and many of them were not happy about it.

On July 27, the company said in a statement to USA TODAY it was “actively working” to get the service restored, adding, “We know how critical it is to stay connected, and every available resource is focused on resolving this as quickly as possible.”
On X, people were venting their frustrations while others described how they dealt with the outage.
“Chilis guest WiFi saving me from being stuck in SOS mode right now because of T-Mobile outage,” wrote one user.
“I pay too much on my phone bill for T-Mobile not to be working,” wrote another. “T-Mobile got under my a skin a lil bit,” someone else wrote.
Another said, “T mobile is DEFINITELY about to hear my mouth. My phone been on SOS for 3 hours.”
One person posted to X after having their service restored, writing, “And we back after hours lol T-Mobile imma need a discount on that bill.”
Someone else said leaving T-Mobile was the “best decision” they ever made.
Outage hits T-Mobile subsidiaries
In addition to T-Mobile’s namesake brand experiencing an outage, several other subsidiaries of the company were also affected.
According to Downdetector, discount carrier Mint Mobile received 3,261 outage reports on July 27, while Metro by T-Mobile received 2,141.
