Amazon FTC settlement deadline is 1 month away. How to file a claim
Melina KhanSome eligible Amazon customers have just 30 days left to file a claim in the company's $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission.
While not all Amazon customers are eligible, those who are may receive up to $51.
It ties back to the retailer's September 2025 settlement with the FTC in which Amazon agreed to pay $2.5 billion to resolve an antitrust lawsuit. The lawsuit, filed in 2023, alleged Amazon coerced consumers into enrolling in Prime subscriptions and then made it difficult to cancel.
The window to submit a claim in the settlement closes on July 27. It is the second phase of payouts in the settlement; in the first, eligible customers received automatic payments last year.
Amazon denied wrongdoing and said it works to "make it clear and simple for customers" to cancel their Prime membership.
Are you eligible for money in Amazon settlement?
Only some Amazon customers are eligible for a settlement payment. According to a court order in the case, customers are eligible if they meet both of the following criteria:
- Sign-up date: Customers signed up for Prime between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025.
- Attempt to cancel: Customers unsuccessfully tried to cancel their Prime subscription, or if they signed up for Prime through what the documents call a "challenged enrollment flow."
The "challenged" flow means any subscription started through certain pages on Amazon's website, including the "Universal Prime Decision Page, the Shipping Option Select Page, Prime Video enrollment flow, or the Single Page Checkout," per the court order.
How to file a claim for money from Amazon settlement
Eligible customers must submit a claim to receive payment in the current phase of payouts in the Amazon settlement.
Only eligible Amazon customers who used their Prime benefits 10 or fewer times over any 12-month period of enrollment can submit a claim in this phase.
Those who qualify to submit a claim should have received a notice by email or mail, according to the settlement website.
Customers can make claims by filling out the form on the online portal. Submissions will be reviewed for eligibility.
Claims can also be submitted via email by sending a completed claims form to [email protected]. The settlement website notes that the quickest way to submit your claim is through the online portal.
The deadline to submit a claim is July 27.
How much money can Amazon customers get from the settlement?
Customers can receive up to $51 from the settlement.
The amount of money each customer receives from the settlement is based on the total amount of Amazon Prime membership fees paid throughout the duration of their subscription.
When will Amazon send out settlement payments?
In the claims payment process for the second wave, the submission window runs for 180 days, until July 27.
Amazon has 30 days to review each claim form once received. Payments will be issued after a form is approved and will go out by September, according to the settlement website.
Automatic payments issued as part of the first wave were sent between Nov. 12 and Dec. 24, 2025.
