Rescue workers are searching for survivors after a rare doublet earthquake struck northern Venezuela on June 24, killing 920 people, injuring 3,000 and causing miles of destruction across the country.

The death toll could range from 10,000 to 100,000, according to analyses by the U.S. Geological Survey.

More than 100 buildings in the coastal state of La Guaira have collapsed, according to the United Nations. The economic losses could fall between $10 billion and $100 billion.

These satellite images from Vantor, taken on the morning of June 25, show what happened.

Extreme damage can be seen throughout La Guaira, with dozens of high-rise apartment buildings collapsed in the Playa Grande neighborhood north of the Simon Bolivar airport. Many stores, industrial buildings and other structures have been heavily damaged, Vantor said.
