Apple's latest iPad is here.

Apple announced the release of the new iPad Air on Monday, March 2. The device features Apple's M4 processor, which allows for more advanced artificial intelligence features, according to an Apple news release. The iPad Air also includes faster network connectivity and enhanced cameras and speakers.

In addition to the new iPad Air, Apple announced the release of the iPhone 17e on March 2. The more "budget-friendly" iPhone includes 256 gigabytes of storage, Apple's new A19 chip, a 48-megapixel Fusion camera and MagSafe wireless charging via USB-C.

The new iPad Air is available for pre-order on Wednesday, March 4 and in stores on Wednesday, March 11.

The device is available in Space Gray, Blue, Purple and Starlight (yellow-orange).

How much does the new iPad Air cost?

The 11-inch iPad Air is $599, and the 13-inch model is $799, according to a news release. Through the Apple Education Store, which is intended for college students and educators, the 11-inch model is $549, and the 13-inch is $749.

New iPad Air features

Notably, the new iPad Air is powered by Apple's M4 processor, featuring a 8-core CPU and 9-core GPU, making the device 30% faster than the iPad Air with Apple's older processor, M3, according to a release.

Improved camera, mics and speakers

The device features a 12-megapixel Center Stage front camera, landscape stereo speakers and improved sound quality compared to Apple's M1 processor.

iPadOS26 including Liquid Glass

The new iPad Air is compatible with iPadOS26, which includes Apple's new, popular Liquid Glass design, a translucent user interface.

The tablet will also feature a new windowing system, allowing users to better control, organize and switch between apps. A menu bar allows access to all apps with a swipe down from the top display or by moving a cursor to the top of the screen.

The latest iPad also includes a redefined Files app for easier customization and Preview app dedicated for quick viewing and editing of PDFs and images.

Wireless connectivity, messaging

The new iPad Air features Apple's wireless networking chip, N1. The chip enables Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread, wireless networking for smart home devices.

Cellular models of the new iPad Air also feature C1X, Apple's cellular modem, and GPS capabilities, according to the company.
