Nick Foligno signs six-year deal with Blue Jackets

Forward Nick Foligno was taken off the list of top unrestricted free agents when the Columbus Blue Jackets signed him Wednesday to a six-year, $33 million contract.
Foligno, 27, has helped the Blue Jackets stay competitive through a host of injuries by scoring 17 goals, tied for sixth in the league.
He needs one more goal to tie his career best, set last season.
Foligno was playing in his 500th game on Wednesday night.
"Nick has been an important contributor to the growth of our team over the past two years and keeping him in the Blue Jackets family has been a priority," general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said in a statement.
Foligno was acquired from the Ottawa Senators in July 2012 in the Marc Methot trade and has 41 goals and 48 assists in 148 games with Columbus.
