The Vegas Golden Knights are in the Stanley Cup Final for the third time in their nine seasons, but Sin City's team is not the favorite to win it all.

That would be the Carolina Hurricanes, the Eastern Conference champions who have absolutely ripped through the NHL playoffs.

The 'Canes are 12-1 this postseason as they enter the championship series, closing out the Montreal Canadiens in Game 5 on Friday, May 29. It's a breakthrough for Carolina, which had lost in the conference finals four times since winning the Stanley Cup in 2006.

Carolina was the best team in the East this season, though, so its presence in the Cup Final is not too much of a surprise. Vegas being here, though? Few probably saw that coming when the Golden Knights fired their head coach with just eight games left in the regular season.

New coach John Tortorella has pushed all the right buttons, though. Vegas went 7-0-1 down the stretch before getting six-game wins over the Utah Mammoth and Anaheim Ducks then sweeping the NHL-best Colorado Avalanche in the conference finals.
