One of three top-10 matchups in Week 1 of the college football season, No. 9 LSU and No. 6 Clemson face off in a much-anticipated game between two potential national championship contenders.
Both the SEC and ACC Tigers have stadiums nicknamed Death Valley, although LSU will travel to Clemson for the 2025 matchup. Both teams also have Heisman Trophy contenders at quarterback.
LSU returns Garrett Nussmeier, and Clemson returns Cade Klubnik, both of which are projected to be potential first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. Nussmeier passed for 4,052 yards with 29 touchdowns to 12 interceptions; Klubnik passed for 3,639 yards with 36 touchdowns to six interceptions, while rushing for 463 yards and seven additional scores.
The matchup has College Football Playoff implications, as well. Both teams will look to add huge quality wins to their resumes, which will almost certainly play a role when the 12-team field is set in December.
