Stephen A. Smith joins call for Knicks to give Spike Lee a ring

And no one has been more public in their fandom for the team than filmmaker and courtside stalwart Spike Lee, who's been a season-ticket holder since 1985.
That's a long time to wait for a title. And that steadfast support seems to be the main reason fans have begun clamoring for Lee to receive a championship ring.
Several high profile supporters have recently joined in the call.
Comedian Kevin Hart posted a video on Instagram (warning: NSFW language) stating planly: "Give Spike a ring!"

Teams usually reserve championship rings for players, coaches, executives and staff, but Lee's unabashed support for the team − dating back to Patrick Ewing's first game as a pro − would certainly be reason enough to grant him a special exception.

Besides, how hard could it be for the Knicks to ... do the right thing?
