Fans of the 2026 NBA champion New York Knicks will have to wait a little longer for them to make an actual pick.

The Knicks moved down the draft board at the 2026 NBA Draft on Tuesday, June 23, opting to trade the No. 24 overall pick to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for the No. 25 overall pick of the draft.

The Knicks used the No. 24 pick to select Cameron Carr out of Baylor as DMX's "Ruff Ryder's Anthem" played at Barclays Center in New York. Carr picked up a Knicks hat before shaking NBA commissioner Adam Silver's hand on stage, but Carr is on the move to Los Angeles.

The Knicks reportedly received cash considerations in exchange for Carr, according to ESPN. The deal is to be finalized later.

With the No. 25 pick, the Lakers selected Sergio De Larrea of Spain from the Valencia Basketball Club. De Larrea, who was named MVP of the Spanish Supercup in 2025, will be on the move too, however.

Per ESPN, De Larrea was traded to the Dallas Mavericks for the 30th overall pick. Koa Peat was selected, but he will be traded to the Phoenix Suns.

The result is the Knicks picking up five second-round picks and cash, per ESPN.

Knicks superfan Spike Lee was in attendance of the NBA draft and was spotted backstage with the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy. Lee was a mainstay during the Knicks' title run and was present on Jalen Brunson's float during the championship parade throughout the city of New York.
