Ducks tackle uses number to honor Vegas shooting victims

The Oregon Ducks are already wearing incredible uniforms for the Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday against Boise State.

But senior offensive lineman Tyrell Crosby - who's from Henderson, Nevada just outside of Vegas - is using his uniform to honor the victims of the mass shooting in October. Fifty-eight people were killed at a music festival on the Strip, so instead of wearing his usual No. 73, Crosby is wearing No. 58 to honor the victims during his last game in a Ducks uniform.

On Twitter, Crosby posted photos of him standing outside Mandalay Bay hotel and casino - where the shooting occurred - wearing his uniform and holding a Vegas Golden Knights jersey with "Vegas Strong" on it. He also wrote:

Looking forward to PLAYING my last game wearing a number so significant to the City of Las Vegas. #VegasStrong

For the bowl game, Oregon's hotel is Delano Las Vegas - which is in the Mandalay Bay complex - and Crosby described it as "eerie" and "strange" to be back where the shooting happened, according to the Ducks' website.

He added:

"This is so much more than a game to me," he said. "I take a lot of pride in being from Vegas - especially being a football player from Vegas."

Oregon takes on Boise State in the Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
