St. John's vs Alabama baseball weather update: Super regional suspended, to resume Monday

Game 2 of the Tuscaloosa Super Regional between No. 7 Alabama and St. John's has been suspended due to lightning, per the Crimson Tide's social media account.

The Crimson Tide lead 7-2 late in the top of the eighth, and is just six outs away from claiming its spot in the College World Series. However, Mother Nature decided they have to wait a bit longer before an outcome is decided.

Alabama defeated the Red Storm — who swept Florida State's regional as a No. 4 seed — 8-0 in Game 1 of the series on Saturday, June 6.

11:15 p.m.: Alabama and St. John's game has been suspended, with gates opening at 11 a.m. ET (10 a.m. CT) at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The game will resume at noon ET on ESPN2.

There, the Crimson Tide will bat first needing just six outs to punch its ticket to the College World Series.

11 p.m.: Still no sign of the game resuming, as rain and lightning continue to impact the area.

10:01 p.m.: Alabama and St. John's are aiming for an 11 p.m. ET (10 p.m. CT) restart.

8:42 p.m.: Alabama-St. John's won't resume before 9:30 p.m. ET, the Crimson Tide announced on social media. Lightning remains within eight miles of the stadium.

8:32 p.m.: Alabama and St. John's remain in weather delay.

8 p.m.: We're looking at an 8:30 p.m. ET restart for Alabama-St. John's.

6:37 p.m.: Alabama vs. St. John's has entered a weather delay due to lightning in the eighth inning. It's unclear when the game will resume, although the Crimson Tide need just six outs to secure a CWS appearance.
