Tauhric Brown has lived a life that has been interwoven with taking initiative and being of service to others before himself. Today, his business, Brown, Roberts & Associates, has become the very embodiment of his lessons, mirroring the values he developed through his experiences.

When a major health event disrupted his life in 2024, Brown realized the importance of doing things right away. Instead of stalling his momentum, it accelerated his mission, and what was a simple business idea became a full-fledged venture by November 2024. Brown now channels his decades of experience in the private and nonprofit sectors into empowering small businesses, startups, and nonprofit organizations through tailored coaching and consultancy, helping them to lead with strategy and business efficiency.

“I had a business plan already created, and it was just sitting on my shelf while I waited for the right time,” Brown recounts. “After my major surgery, I decided that the time to make a change didn’t come from waiting for it; the time was now.”

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Brown’s family shaped his sense of resilience and service very early in his life. His mother worked in pharmaceutical companies, moving them to Kalamazoo, Michigan, which brought him to visit his grandmother and aunt every summer, both of whom had a big influence on Brown’s career. He recalls how his grandmother ran a tight household from her recliner, who, even as she aged, established a matriarchal presence that commanded respect.

These moments subtly defined his views on aging, disability, and dignity, which continued to be a pivotal aspect of Brown’s career. “It’s no surprise I ended up where I am today,” Brown says.

Academia never came easily to Brown. Upon graduating from high school, his mother directed him to join the military. So, he enlisted. The military imbued him with structure, discipline, and a long-view mentality that he carried into every facet of his life and every endeavor that followed.

Brown’s ambitions were rooted in his desire to build something of his own that could create a legacy for his children and grandchildren. Entrepreneurship, for him, wasn’t just about autonomy; it was a path to provide opportunities for his future children that he didn’t have growing up. “I’ve always had this vision of building generational wealth for my kids and grandkids to have once I leave this earth in the physical form, that’s what I’m working towards,” Brown says.

Once his ultimate goal was clear to him, Brown began his journey towards achieving it. During his experience in the private sector, Brown thrived in sales. He was drawn to the art of communication and the satisfaction of meeting goals. But over time, he began to feel like his purpose was much deeper. He wanted to do work that carried more meaning beyond just metrics and numbers, and this led him to pivot toward the nonprofit sector.

“I felt like I had been put on this earth to do more meaningful work, and that’s really where the passion for older adults and disabilities came to the forefront,” Brown explains.

He worked with several nonprofit ventures where he had roles encompassing catering, business development, and home repairs. This gave him exposure to the intricacies of nonprofit businesses and how they required more strategic guidance and confidence to run their operations efficiently. “I knew I could provide this guidance in the nonprofit ecosystem for them to have more financial sustainability and longevity,” Brown explains. “It was important to build that mindset, helping them move from a fixed mindset to a growth-focused one.”

Brown, Roberts & Associates

This drive to merge purpose with strategy is what ultimately led to the creation of Brown, Roberts & Associates. His firm is built on the idea that nonprofits and small businesses have the passion but need the direction to navigate their operational side. “We’re bringing the private sector lens to the nonprofit space,” Brown explains. “Our goal is to help organizations build cost-effective and sustainable operations, so they can spend more time serving.”

Brown, Roberts & Associates is rooted in helping leaders maximize their potential and build communities that are self-reliant and adept in business development. His consultancy offers coaching, business, and leadership development, which enables leaders to streamline their organizational operations and serve communities effectively, a vision that Brown is passionate about. But perhaps what drives him most is the long-term goal he hopes to achieve, where his daughter and son-in-law can leave corporate America and join him full-time.

Brown’s life has been shaped by conviction, steady resilience, and a deep belief in the value of building something meaningful. Whether it's for family, a business, or a future for underserved communities, Brown has created one solution for it all, and he aims to lead his firm to unparalleled growth, rooted in service, support, and purpose.
