Death toll in Nice terror attack rises to 85

The death toll in the Bastille Day truck attack in Nice has risen to 85 after a man who was injured in the incident died.

He was named as Pierre Hattermann, 56, by regional president Christian Estrosi in a post on Twitter on Thursday.

Hattermann, 56, a psychologist who lived in Savoie, eastern France, and was vacationing in Nice with his family, died Thursday in a hospital, the Nice-Matin newspaper reported. It said his wife and son were killed in the attack.

Mohamed Bouhlel, 31, a Tunisian who lived in Nice for years, drove a truck through a crowd of people watching a fireworks display on the Promenade des Anglais on July 14 before being shot and killed by police. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, but investigators have not found any direct ties between Bouhlel and the group.

Five people have been charged for their alleged roles in helping Bouhlel carry out the attack.
