Sets of uncirculated America 250 coins to be released by US Mint

June 28, 2026Updated June 29, 2026, 8:55 a.m. ET

You can hold national history in your wallet.

An uncirculated set of coins featuring change marking America's 250th birthday is set to be released on June 30, just days ahead of the nation's anniversary on July 4. The coins include the quarter, dime, nickel and penny, as well as signature coins, all with unique elements and features emblematic of the nation's milestone.

Here's everything you need to know about the coins ahead of their release.

What to know about the uncirculated American 250 coin set

While the coins are valid U.S. currency, the uncirculated coins are primarily sold as a collectors' item, rather than everyday use, according to the U.S. Mint. These coins are made differently than coins you'd typically find in your wallet or a tip jar, with a special finish.

"Uncirculated coins are hand-loaded into the coin press and struck on specially burnished blanks to give them a soft, matte-like appearance," the U.S. Mint glossary reads. The bright luster of the coins stands out against a more modest hue you'd see on the coins used for a parking meter, for example.

The U.S. mint produces an uncirculated set of coins annually, but 2026's release is unique in that it includes coins commemorating the nation's semiquincentennial. The set features all five semiquincentennial quarters issued by the Mint to celebrate America's 250th birthday. As stated by the U.S. Mint, the quarters pay tribute to five foundational milestones in America's history, including the Mayflower Compact, the Revolutionary War, the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution and Gettysburg Address. These events are displayed in the symbols and figures printed on both sides of the coins.

The U.S. Mint is set to make the 2026 uncirculated coin set available for purchase on June 30, 2026. The set commemorates the nation's 250th anniversary.

How to get the 20 uncirculated coins

The 2026 uncirculated set comes as a pack of two cards, each with 10 uncirculated coins, one made at the the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia and one from the U.S. Mint in Denver. In addition to the semiquincentennial quarters, the sets also include:

  • Emerging Liberty dime: Liberty will appear on the obverse (portrait side) of the dime for the first time since 1945.
  • Enduring Liberty half dollar: Rather than President John F. Kennedy and the Presidential Coat of Arms, the 2026 half dollar will feature a new design depicting the Statue of Liberty.
  • Native American dollar coin: The obverse of the coin will depict Sacagawea carrying her infant son Jean-Baptiste. The reverse side features the Oneida tribe during the Revolutionary War.
  • Jefferson nickel: The nickel includes the years "1776 to 2026."
  • Lincoln penny: The penny features the years "1776 to 2026."

The coin set, complete with a certificate of authenticity, is available from the U.S. Mint on June 30, at 12 p.m. EDT. The set costs $124.50 for both coin cards.
