Nearly 300 missing when South Korean ferry full of high school students sinks

A South Korean ferry with mostly high school students on board sank off the country's southern coast Wednesday. At least four people of the 459 on board have been confirmed dead. Divers fighting strong currents have searched three compartments of the submerged ferry but found no sign of the 284 people missing.

Toyota dramatically redesigns Camry — and it doesn't hold back

Under pressure from a raft of rivals, Toyota showed off its redesign of the Toyota Camry on Wednesday at the New York Auto Show press preview. The new Camry is redesigned inside and out. Tokyo court: Bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox will liquidate

Mt. Gox, the Tokyo-based Bitcoin exchange that collapsed earlier this year after $425 million worth of its customers' digital currency disappeared, lost its bid to reorganize and will likely be liquidated, a Japanese bankruptcy court administrator said Wednesday.

Expert expects proof of plane as sub makes third dive

U.S. Navy Bluefin 21 dived into the ocean to look for lost Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 for a third time Wednesday. David Mearns, who heads British-based Bluewater Recoveries but is not involved in the search effort, said he believes the sounds picked up days ago by sonar devices are from the data recorders of the missing plane and now it's a matter of locating the wreckage by sight. "Obviously for the sake of the families and for everybody else they will want photographic proof, and that will be coming shortly," Mearns said.

Saturn may have birthed a new moon

NASA's Cassini spacecraft spotted what the Los Angeles Times describes as a "fuzzy blob" near one of the planet's rings, though astronomers may not know for sure whether the maybe-moon they've nicknamed "Peggy" is an actual moon until Cassini gets a closer look late next year. The planet already has 53 confirmed moons and nine more suspected ones.

Accused Kansas killer may have been protected by the feds

The white supremacist accused in the Kansas shooting rampage that left three people dead may have been placed in the federal witness protection program in the 1980s, The Kansas City Star reports. Frazier Glenn Cross pleaded guilty to weapons charges and agreed to testify against white supremacist associates for a plea bargain. The Star reports that a 1987 sentencing memorandum recommended witness protection for Cross.

Miley Cyrus' Bangerz tour on standby after singer is hospitalized

Cyrus said Wednesday morning that she'd have to skip her concert in St. Louis on Wednesday night after canceling Tuesday's show in Kansas City, Mo. The singer was hospitalized for a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics.
