Kroger is giving away pints of free ice cream. How to get yours

June 18, 2026, 12:00 p.m. ET

Kroger is giving customers 100,000 free pints of its store-brand ice cream in both classic and limited-edition flavors to celebrate the upcoming summer solstice.

Customers can pick up classic flavors or new releases such as Seventh Inning Swirl, Sweet As Cherry Pie and Banana Split Social beginning on Friday, June 19. The deal will also be available at Kroger Family of Stores that sell the company's products, like Ralphs, Fred Meyer and Smith’s Food and Drug, Kroger said in a recent news release.

The giveaway was put together in honor of the summer solstice, which marks the first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. This year, the summer solstice falls on Sunday, June 21.

"Summer is all about bringing people together to create memories that last a lifetime, and we're excited to capture that fun and nostalgia through our new All-American Ice Cream Collection," said Kroger’s Group Vice President of Our Brands Ann Reed.

Kroger first gave away 45,000 pints of free ice cream in 2024 and 92,000 pints in 2025.

"We've loved seeing customers come back year after year for their free pints and now, we're going bigger than ever by giving away 100,000 pints," Reed continued.

What flavors do customers have to choose from this year?

Kroger said customers can choose from the brand’s new flavors or from classic ones like Kroger Cookies 'N Cream Ice Cream or Kroger Rocky Road Ice Cream.

Kroger said this year’s new flavors are "inspired by the traditions and tastes that define an American summer."
