Dentures, breast milk, fish. Uber reveals unique items riders forgot
Gabe HauariHave you ever gotten out of an Uber and, as soon as the driver pulls away, realized you forgot something in the car? If so, you are not alone.
The ride-sharing company released its annual Uber Lost & Found Index on June 2, detailing common – and not-so-common – items people have forgotten in their Ubers.
Dentures, breast milk, an ankle monitor, a 75-gallon fish tank, a brand new mini fridge, and an oxygen tank were among the unusual items people have left behind in their Ubers in the last year, according to the report. Other items include a live fish, a cape with the Statue of Liberty on it, a mannequin, handcuffs, and a dishwasher.

Other findings from Uber's 2026 Lost & Found Index
The most commonly forgotten items are – unsurprisingly – cell phones, wallets, luggage, and keys, according to Uber, with passports, glasses, and laptops also making the list.
The company said the most "forgetful" cities include New York, Miami, Chicago, and San Francisco, and Sundays are the day people are most likely to forget something in a vehicle.
A look back at things people have forgotten over the past 10 years
Since this is the 10th year Uber has released the report, the company looked back at some of the most unusual items riders have forgotten since 2016, with a live lobster, a salmon head, a lanyard that says "virginity rocks," a large painting of Kate Middleton, and divorce papers all making the cut.
Uber rolls out 'improved lost items experience' in the app
Uber said in the report that it has rolled out an improved way in its app that makes it "easier than ever to get your belongings back in a few taps."
Here's how it works, according to the company:
- Open the Uber app and tap "Activity" on the bottom icon menu.
- Scroll down to "Find lost item" in the Help section and report your missing item.
- You will receive a notification when your driver has confirmed they have located the item in their vehicle.
- Select "Request a return trip" with your original driver.
- Enter the address for the item to be returned to and confirm the fare for the return.
- Follow along with your driver's return trip in the app.
- When the driver arrives with your item, show the pin number connected to the trip in the Uber app to confirm it is your return.
This feature is now live in California, Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Minnesota, Massachusetts and Washington, DC, with plans to roll out nationally by the end of the year, according to Uber.
Uber said passengers may also contact the driver directly if they have lost an item on a trip, confirm if they have the item, then arrange a time and place to get it back.
