Got a return to make? Uber Eats can now do it for you.
Consumers who have retail returns they are dreading to make will soon have a new option.
Uber Eats has launched a new returns feature allowing consumers to send back items purchased from certain retailers on the app and receive a refund, the company confirmed to USA TODAY on Friday, April 17.
"A first for the on-demand delivery industry, customers will now be able to send back eligible retail items purchased on Uber Eats and receive an instant refund– just request a return in the Uber Eats app and a courier will come pick it up for a fee," Uber said in its announcement.
The feature is now available on the app.
How returns through Uber Eats work

To make a return through the Uber Eats app, customers can go to their order history and choose the "return an item" option. They then select the item they wish to return and tell Uber Eats why they wish to return it. As long as the item is eligible and fits the retailer's return policy, consumers can then tap "return with a courier" to finish the process.
Once the courier picks up the item, Uber Eats will process the refund immediately, the company said.
How much is the fee?
Courier returns are available only for items purchased for $20 or more, subject to the store's return policy in the app, according to Uber Eats. Refunds include the item price, applicable taxes, and Uber Eats' service fees.
The return fee levied on the consumer is calculated based on the courier's time and distance.
The delivery fee and tips are non-refundable, Uber said in the announcement.
What retailers allow returns through Uber Eats?
At initial launch, the feature will apply for retailers on the app such as Petco, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Best Buy, among others, Uber Eats said. The company said it plans to add additional retail partners in the future.
Uber Eats also has a 'send items' feature
Uber Eats also has a "send items" feature on Uber Courier, according to the spokesperson, which allows a customer to have a courier pick up your prepaid and sealed packages, up to five at a time, and drop them off at a local post office, UPS or FedEx location. The feature first launched in 2023, according to Uber.
