Joly's 80% vinegar sold on Amazon recalled over poisoning risk

Vinegar sold on Amazon is being recalled due to its consumption causing a risk of deadly poisoning, according to a notice published on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website.

Joly's 80% vinegar was sold through Amazon between May 2025 and November 2025 for roughly $23, the notice says. The product comes in a white-capped transparent bottle featuring an orange and red label with white lettering with the "Joly's" brand, “80% Vinegar” and “Dilutes to 5 Gallons”.

The container does not have additional markings, according to the CPSC.

The CPSC warns that the "product violates the precautionary labeling requirements under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act because the vinegar lacks required labels and first-aid treatment instructions."

According to the notice, there is a deadly risk of poisoning if the contents are swallowed, and a serious injury, such as chemical burns to the skin and eyes, could occur if improperly handled.

About 450 units of the product are part of the recall, the notice states. As of Feb. 20, no incidents or injuries have been reported in connection with the affected product.

What to do with recalled vinegar? How to get a refund?

Consumers should immediately move the recalled vinegar out of sight and reach of children and contact Joly's for a full refund and disposal instructions, according to the notice.

Impacted consumers will also be asked to email [email protected] with a photo of the product in its original packaging and “RECALLED” printed on the container.
