Richard Thomas 'crashed' a Central Park wedding

On Saturday afternoon, happy couple James Chavez and Stevie Field-Chavez of Chapin, S.C., tied the knot in a small, simple ceremony in New York's Central Park. Several passers-by stopped to take in the affair and wish them well, including a famous one from TV history -- Richard Thomas, the TV veteran who won an Emmy playing John Boy on CBS' The Waltons and is now regularly seen on Broadway:
The caption on the photo:
Guess who crashed the wedding? John Boy Walton. #notlying #hecried
Anissa Freeman Starnes, who officiated the ceremony (full disclosure -- she went to high school with this writer), wrote via Facebook that Thomas was "so amazingly genuine. He said he had lived in New York City his whole life and had never seen such a sweet wedding and a first dance to street musicians."
It seems the sensitive, sympathetic persona Thomas portrayed as John Boy on The Waltons was no act.
What a wonderful surprise for a newly minted couple, and what a lovely gesture from a talented star.
