Roundup: Four fine Father's Day reads
June 14, 2006, 9:30 p.m. ET
After Big Russ & Me, Tim Russert's 2004 best seller about his blue-collar dad, the author received 60,000 letters and e-mails from sons and daughters about their own fathers. Russert writes that he read them all, nearly all were positive and that he "had no choice" but to write another book. It's mostly the letters he received. It's schmaltzy, but that's the appeal. Russert, moderator of NBC's Meet the Press, invokes his son Luke along with his dad and advises, "If you are a father, let your kids know, in plain English, that you love them."
