Christopher Meloni 'absolutely' wants Jalen Brunson on 'SVU'
Amaris EncinasJalen Brunson's next career move is now Elliot Stabler approved.
Speaking with TMZ Sports about Brunson's desire to appear on "Law & Order: SVU," Christopher Meloni confirmed that the New York Knicks point guard "absolutely" has what it takes to be cast on the show.
"I don't know if you've heard, but he's the world champion," Meloni said. "He can do whatever the hell he wants."
"He's got the force of will," he added.
Meloni's ringing endorsement comes days after the 29-year-old revealed he wanted "to try to get on SVU" after securing the 2026 NBA title, a goal with which Meloni's fellow costar Mariska Hargitay is fully on board.
Spotted cheering for the Knicks throughout the playoffs, the "SVU" star attended multiple games at Madison Square Garden and even sent Brunson a congratulatory text after the team’s 105-95 win over the San Antonio Spurs.
In a June 8 appearance pegged to her Broadway debut in "Every Brilliant Thing," Hargitay opened up about her friendship with Brunson, telling "Today" that he was her friend and her inspiration.
"I love him," Hargitay said. "I can't believe, I was so terrified to do my show that I actually like tried to and just thought about him and his inspiration and his humility and his work ethic to say 'You can do hard things. No matter what you can do hard things' because this was all new to me."
"But he is so singular and magnificent. He is a magnificent human," she added.

Jalen Brunson 'super starstruck' by Mariska Hargitay
Brunson opened up about his love of the show in the past, sharing in a May 2025 episode of the "Roommates Show" podcast that his dad, former Knicks player and coach Rick Brunson, put him onto the show.
"I just remember my dad always watching the show. You just hear the iconic 'dun dun' all the time, like in the house. My dad also watches the TV incredibly loud, so like you hear it throughout... the echo," Brunson said.

Brunson also called "SVU" a pregame show, one he watched before getting a nap in.
"I've always loved that show and then the first time... I've never been like super super starstruck, super starstruck. I saw her [Mariska Hargitay] I was like 'Oh [expletive].' And then the first time we met, it was awesome. We talked and everything."
