Savannah Guthrie will be making her long-awaited return to Today on April 6, NBC announced Friday.

It's been nearly two months since Guthrie's last Today appearance. The longtime anchor last appeared in studio on Jan. 30, two days before her mother, 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, disappeared in a case that's gripped the nation. Savannah did, however, make an off-camera visit to the studio on March 5 to give thanks to those who've been supporting her and the search for her mother.

In an interview with Today co-host Hoda Kotb, Guthrie says she's "not going to be the same" after what's transpired, but the hard times have called her to be with the colleagues she considers family.

“It’s hard to imagine doing it because it’s such a place of joy and lightness, and I can’t come back and try to be something that I’m not,” Guthrie said. “But I can’t not come back, because it’s my family. I think it’s part of my purpose right now.

“I want to smile. And when I do, it will be real. I will have joy. And my joy will be my protest. My joy will be my answer. And being there is joyful. And when it’s not, I’ll say so. And I have been so grateful to have this family. I consider this my family, my greater family.”

As for Nancy Guthrie, the search carries on. The Guthrie family is offering $1 million for information leading to her return.
