Last summer debuted a terrific new Superman. This one lets a Supergirl soar.

Milly Alcock wears the signature cape and "S" shield now with "Supergirl," a cosmic adventure that continues to expand the rebooted DC movie universe. You can check her out on the big screen while John Cena flexes his comedic muscles on streaming with the Netflix comedy "Little Brother" opposite the hilarious Eric André. But that's not all, because there's a bunch of must-see TV stuff happening: Hulu's "The Bear" is back with its final season, and HBO Max's "House of the Dragon" is finally embracing that old "Game of Thrones" swagger.

Now on to the good stuff:

See Milly Alcock on a mission in DC superhero movie 'Supergirl'

Milly Alcock stars as the title character of the DC superhero movie "Supergirl."

After a fun little drunken intro in "Superman," Milly Alcock gets her own proper movie – and is pretty darn great – as the Man of Steel's cousin Kara Zor-El in "Supergirl." But the character's party-hearty exterior hides a tragic element, which Kara has to deal with while also helping a young girl (Eve Ridley) seeking revenge and her poisoned dog Krypto in a planet-hopping journey of self-discovery. (Peep my ★★★ review.)

I also did a guide to what parents need to know about "Supergirl" as well as a feature on Alcock, who discusses how Kara copes with trauma and is "a reflection of who we are."

Stream new seasons of 'The Bear,' 'House of the Dragon'

Ayo Edebiri (far left), Jeremy Allen White and Will Poulter return for Season 5 of "The Bear."

Summer TV season has officially arrived, y'all. The fifth and final season of "The Bear" is now streaming on Hulu and TV critic Kelly Lawler is saying "Yes, chef!" She writes in her review that it "delivers all the elements that have made the show a critical and fan phenomenon." Kelly's also digging the next round of "House of the Dragon": Season 3 of the "Game of Thrones" prequel has improved itself, no longer "woefully disappointing" and now starting to find its "sensational and affecting" groove.

Our intrepid TV team has both shows covered:

Witness John Cena's antics in Netflix's 'Little Brother'

John Cena poses for a portrait at USA TODAY headquarters in Manhattan on June 16th, 2026.

John Cena plays piano, speaks Mandarin, had a rap album go platinum and is a 17-time WWE world champ. He also can be quite funny, like in "Little Brothers" (streaming now on Netflix). Cena stars as an uptight real estate agent who's reunited with a chaotic guy (Eric André) from a Big Brother-Little Brother program when they were kids. And in a recent stop by our New York City studio, Cena chatted with my pal Patrick Ryan about growing up the second oldest of five "rowdy" brothers. "My parents could only discipline so many at a time, but I think they knew everything,” he says.

"Little Brother" is part of a busy week of new movies on streaming, a list that also includes the sci-fi threequel "Avatar: Fire and Ash," family-friendly mystery comedy "The Sheep Detectives" and the aurally freaky horror flick "Undertone."
