July 24, 2026, 11:53 a.m. ET

"Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" and "Gotham" set decor coordinator Mary Kate Golding has died after being fatally stabbed in New York City. She was 34.

Officers responded to a 911 call just after midnight on Tuesday, July 21, about an assault in New York City, and found Golding suffering from a "stab wound to the back," the New York Police Department confirmed to USA TODAY. Emergency medical services pronounced her dead at the scene.

The department added that an investigation is ongoing, and that no arrests have been made.

A representative for Golding could not be reached.

Later that morning, the department confirmed that it had discovered an "unidentified male" in his early 30s "unconscious and unresponsive" in nearby Astoria Park. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the department added, "There does not appear to be any criminality at this time."

Golding was an art department and set decor coordinator who worked on nearly two dozen shows, including "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" Season 2, "Gotham" Season 5, "Hawkeye" and "Harlem" Season 1.

Her latest credits included working as an assistant set decorator for the 2024 "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" series and Season 2 of "Goosebumps," as well as a set dresser for the 2023 docuseries "Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer."

She also worked on a handful of films, including the Alec Baldwin-led thriller "An Imperfect Murder," the Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson romantic comedy "Marry Me," and the Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson romcom "Meet Cute."
