'Rap City' host Big Tigger arrested on battery, cruelty to children charges

Former "Rap City" host Big Tigger is facing charges of battery and child cruelty.

The 53-year-old host, whose real name is Darian Morgan, was arrested and booked into jail in Fulton County, Georgia, June 20, for aggravated battery and cruelty to children in the third degree, according to documents obtained by USA TODAY. He was released later that day on $10,000 bond – $9,000 for the first charge, which is a felony, and $1,000 for the second, a misdemeanor.

The alleged victim is named as Alicia Brown, Morgan's wife, in a pre-indictment order. The matter is also listed as "outside of divorce proceedings," although there are no public records of a formal divorce filing.

The incidents allegedly occurred on June 9, and no further details have been released. Records show prosecutors have not yet issued a formal indictment.

While Morgan has not addressed his arrest publicly, he shared an Instagram post on Monday, June 22, which read, "Life is a cruel teacher... she loves to give you the test first, and the lesson later..." He captioned it, "Ohhhh but you gone learn….."

The court instructed the radio personality not to have any "direct or indirect contact with any victim, victim's family, or close associates by phone, mail, e-mail, social media, or through third party" while he's out on bail. It also says he must leave immediately if he encounters Brown and prohibits him from coming within 200 yards of her.

Morgan is allowed one visit to their shared residence to gather his belongings under supervision of a police officer, and the order states he can have third-party communication with Brown "only for the purposes of visitation." The pair share a son, whom they welcomed in March 2025.

USA TODAY has reached out to Morgan's attorney for comment.

Big Tigger denied previous allegations of assault

Earlier this month, TMZ reported that Morgan, known for hosting BET's "Rap City," was the suspect in an investigation into an assault that left Brown with injuries. He later said on his radio show that "these allegations and accusations that have been circulating are false."

Records do not indicate whether there is a correlation between that investigation and Morgan's recent arrest.
