Cher's son Elijah Blue Allman arrested after alleged assault

Updated March 2, 2026, 5:17 p.m. ET

Elijah Blue Allman, the son of pop icon Cher, has run into legal trouble after an arrest in New Hampshire over the weekend, according to reports.

Allman, 49, was arrested on Friday, Feb. 27, following an alleged incident at St. Paul's School, a college-preparatory boarding school located in the New England state's capital of Concord, local police confirmed to People magazine and ABC affiliate WMUR.

Per WMUR, authorities were alerted after Allman was reported as an "unwanted guest" on the school's property. The Deadsy frontman, who reportedly has no association with St. Paul's, was seen in the dining hall and was "causing a disturbance and acting belligerently."

Elijah Blue Allman, the son of pop icon Cher, was reportedly arrested in New Hampshire over the weekend following a trespassing incident at a school.

Following his arrest, Allman was charged with two counts of simple assault, criminal trespassing, criminal threatening and disorderly conduct, People and WMUR reported. He was later released on personal recognizance bail, which means Allman didn't have to post a bail payment as long as he attends future court hearings.

Representatives for Allman were not available for comment at the time of publication. USA TODAY has reached out to the Concord Police Department and Cher's representatives for additional comment.

Elijah Blue Allman arrest follows drug overdose, conservatorship bid

Allman's arrest comes less than a year after the musician, the sole child of Cher and late Allman Brothers Band singer Gregg Allman, was hospitalized for an apparent drug overdose in California.

Allman, who has a decadeslong history of substance abuse, was admitted to a medical facility after San Bernardino Sheriff's Department deputies responded to a Landers, California, residence regarding a man who was "acting erratically," the department said in a statement to USA TODAY at the time.

When authorities arrived, Allman was being evaluated by medical personnel. Deputies later found drugs inside the home, according to police.

In December 2023, Cher filed a request for a conservatorship for Allman, alleging he suffers from "severe mental health and substance abuse issues." According to court documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the Grammy Award-winning singer claimed that her son was unable to manage his financial assets because of his alleged health issues.

Allman objected to the conservatorship in subsequent court filings, and in September 2024, Cher dropped her bid to be appointed his conservator, according to Rolling Stone.

The outlet also noted Cher's legal team asked LA County Superior Court Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui for the case to be dismissed without prejudice, meaning she could potentially file another petition in the future.

Cher opened up about her relationship with Allman in an October 2023 interview with People magazine, which came a year after Allman's estranged wife Marieangela King alleged the singer orchestrated a kidnapping plot involving her son.

"I'm not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren't," Cher told the outlet, declining to go into detail about the abduction allegation. She said the family matter was related to Allman's longtime addiction issues.

"I'm a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children," she added. "You do anything for your children."
