Denise Richards, husband Aaron Phypers to divorce after 6 years of marriage: Reports

Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers are going their separate ways after six years of marriage, according to reports.

Phypers, born Aaron Cameron, reportedly filed for divorce at the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday, July 7, according to People magazine and E! News. Per the outlets, the filing lists July 4 as the couple's date of separation.

Richards' estranged spouse cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the couple's split, according to People and E! Phypers is reportedly requesting spousal support from Richards and to maintain their assets and debts, which include Phypers' power tools, motorcycle and sports car, as separate property.

USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Richards for comment. Representatives for Phypers could not be reached at the time of publication.

Phypers' divorce petition comes just four months after the couple debuted their Bravo reality-TV series "Denise Richards & Her Wild Things," which chronicles Richards and Phypers' blended family life with Richards' daughters Lola Sheen, Sami Sheen and Eloise Richards.

Richards and Phypers, who began dating in December 2017, wed in Malibu in September 2018. The "Wild Things" actress, 54, was previously married to "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen from 2002 to 2006, and the pair shares daughters Sami, 21, and Lola, 20. Richards adopted her youngest daughter, 14-year-old Eloise, in 2011.

Phypers, 52, was previously married to "Desperate Housewives" actress Nicollette Sheridan. Less than a year after tying the knot in December 2015, the couple separated in June 2016 and finalized their divorce in August 2018, a month before his wedding to Richards.

In September 2024, Phypers gave a sweet shout-out to Richards and their marital union in an Instagram post celebrating their wedding anniversary.

"Happy anniversary to my sweetest love!" Phypers wrote at the time. "Thanks for always being there my beautiful wife! Love you! 😘"

Denise Richards, Aaron Phypers survive LA road rage incident

In November 2022, Richards and Phypers weathered a close call after the celebrity couple was shot at in their truck in a road rage incident in Los Angeles.

Richards and Phypers were not injured in the incident, a representative for Richards confirmed to USA TODAY at the time. Details on what led to the shooting were not shared.

A week after the incident, Richards alluded to the encounter in a social media post, in which she thanked fans for their "overwhelming" display of "love and support."

"I want to give my sincerest thanks to all who have reached out to me and Aaron during this time," Richards wrote on X, formerly Twitter, and Instagram. "We are both very grateful to be safe."
