Celebrities make eyeglasses look cool

Remember the old line about girls and glasses and men and passes? So over. Nowadays, eyeglasses are a fashion accessory for celebrities and women on TV, even for those who don't actually need them to see, says eyewear designer/optician/stylist Alexander Daas. 'A frame can completely change your image; it’s the ultimate accessory,' he says. 'It can make you look more intelligent or more funky, depending on the style.' One of his best clients is Jenny McCarthy, who wears his glasses in order to see the teleprompter in her new role as one of the gabby women on 'The View.' Of course, she probably looks good in anything, as do the other celebrities we've found who can rock a pair with no diminution in their sex appeal. Take a look.

She's as pretty as any pundit on TV but she may have to remind viewers of her conservative credentials, so she never goes on camera without her trademark rectangle glasses. And these days she's stepping out on the red carpet, here for a 'Homeland' screening at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington on Sept 9.

By 2011, she was designing limited edition reading glasses, called 'Katie's Close Ups,' with an eyewear company. Meanwhile, she moved on to be anchor on the CBS evening news, and from there to her daytime talk show on ABC, where she can wear what she likes.
