Crickets from Trump Mobile when T1 Phone was scheduled to launch. What happened?
Kinsey Crowley- The Trump Organization's cellular company, Trump Mobile, has gone quiet after announcing its T1 Phone over the summer.
- The phone's release was initially promised for August, then delayed to October.
- The company has not responded to multiple inquiries about the phone from USA TODAY.
The Trump Organization announced its cellular endeavor over the summer with promises of its own golden phone. But four months later, the company has gone quiet.
On June 16, President Donald Trump's eldest sons, who manage the Trump Organization, announced the launch of Trump Mobile, a new cellular service and cellphone company that would sell its own smartphone, the "T1 Phone."
The phone was available for pre-orders right away, with promises to ship in August, which was later pushed to October. Now, it's mid-October and there has not been an update from the company in weeks.
The last social media post from Trump Mobile across all platforms was Aug. 27, and media representatives have not responded to multiple inquiries from USA TODAY since earlier that month. Here is what we know about the phone and the cell service, and what we don't.
When is the T1 Phone being released?
Trump Mobile last said the phone would be released in October, but it has not confirmed shipments in the last two weeks.
The website currently says the phone will be released "later this year."
What kind of phone is Trump Mobile T1?
Trump Mobile says T1 Phone will operate on an Android system.
It includes AI face unlocking and an in-screen fingerprint sensor, according to Trump Mobile's website. The T1 Phone is also expected to have 256 gigabytes of internal storage, a USB-C port and 3.5 mm headphone jack, the website states.
However, a photo posted, then deleted, of the T1 Phone appeared to show a different phone than the one first advertised, according to media reports. Wired and The Verge reported that Trump Mobile posted a picture of a phone in August that looked like the Samsung Galaxy S25. The posts have since been deleted. The outlets also reported that the golden exterior with a flag and "T1" may have been superimposed on another company's phone case, as the company's logo was still visible on the image. The phone case company, Spigen, posted a picture of the case on X saying "lawsuit incoming ..."
Is the T1 Phone made in America?
Trump Mobile once said the T1 Phone would be built in the U.S., but now the website reads it will be "designed with American values in mind."
What else does Trump Mobile sell?
The Trump Mobile network offers 5G service through "The 47 Plan," available for $47.45 per month − a nod to Trump's first and second terms. According to the Trump Mobile website, the service will include:
- Unlimited talk, text and data
- Nationwide coverage on U.S. networks
- Roadside assistance through Drive America
- International calling to 100 countries
- Telehealth services, including mental health support and prescription discounts
In launching the company, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. introduced entrepreneur Pat O’Brien as part of the launch team for Trump Mobile, according to Reuters.
When reached by phone by the outlet, O’Brien said the brand was planning to initially launch one phone and later develop other devices. Reuters reported he said the T1 Phone had received a lot of preorders but did not provide a number. O’Brien did not respond to USA TODAY's questions about the phone delay for this story.
Trump Mobile recently added "Renewed" Samsung and Apple phones for purchase on its website. USA TODAY reached out to Apple and Samsung for comment.
