Is there a wrong way to reheat a slice of pizza? That depends on how you like your leftovers.

There are plenty of ways to warm up a slice, but not all of them give you that crunchy crust and melty cheese without taking too much time. Some methods heat your slice but leave it soft and chewy, while others bring back the crispness of the crust.

Whether it’s homemade pizza or from your favorite carryout spot, reheating it the right way can make it almost as good as when it first hit your table.

Watch this video for an easy way to reheat pizza.

Can I reheat pizza in an airfryer?

Yes, you can reheat pizza in an air fryer. In fact, this might be one of the easiest and tastiest ways to reheat your slices if you like them crispy and done quickly.

To reheat pizza in an air fryer:

  1. Place your slice or slices in the air fryer basket.
  2. Let it air fry at 375º for about 3 minutes. It doesn't need to preheat.
  3. Carefully remove your reheated slices from the basket and let them cool slightly before enjoying.

How do you reheat pizza in the oven?

If you do not have an air fryer, reheating pizza in the oven may be your go-to method. There are a lot of variables with this approach, so you can choose the timing and temperature that work best for you.

You can:

  • Place the slice on a baking sheet.
  • Place it on aluminum foil and directly onto the oven rack.
  • Place it on a baking sheet and loosely cover it with foil.

For any of these options, you can set your oven to anywhere between 350ºF-400ºF and heat the slice for a few minutes. You can also experiment with putting the baking sheet in the oven while it preheats before adding the slice, or placing the slice in a cold oven and letting it warm up as the oven preheats.

Reheat pizza on the stove

Another simple way to reheat pizza is in a frying pan or skillet on the stove.

For this method, place your slice in the pan and warm it until the crust on the underside is firm. Then add a dash of water to the pan — not on the slice — and cover it with a lid. Let it heat until the cheese is melted.

Be careful not to use heat that is too high, or you risk burning the bottom while the cheese melts.

Reheat pizza in the microwave

If you’re reheating pizza in the microwave, it helps to include some moisture in the process. You can add a glass of water to the microwave or drape a damp paper towel over the pizza.

Reheat the slices in 30-second bursts. The added moisture will help keep the crust soft and fluffy, but it will not be crispy.
