What started as an ordinary day at the salon for Megan Slater quickly turned into quite the unforgettable moment.

Slater, a hairstylist at Gold Dust Hair Studio in New Braunfels, TX, was midway through foiling a client’s hair when the unexpected happened: her water broke. It was the salon’s social media manager, Halle Klinge — who was filming the appointment for a behind‑the‑scenes video — who spotted it first. Slater wasn’t due for another two weeks, so the realization took everyone by surprise.

“When we realized her water had actually broken, we were honestly shocked and laughing at the same time,” Klinge said.

And then Slater did what only the most dedicated stylists would consider: she kept going. Determined to finish the appointment, she wrapped up her client’s hair before heading to the hospital.

“So many people have connected with the moment because it really shows the reality of how hardworking moms are,” Klinge said. “They’re balancing their careers, their passions, and their families — even right up until the moment their baby decides it’s time to arrive.”

Slater labored through the night and delivered a healthy baby boy at 4 a.m. on Valentine’s Day.
