A Chicago River boat ride turns into the perfect marriage proposal

A budget-friendly outing turned into the surprise of a lifetime on the Chicago River.

Bree Taylor thought she was on a semi-private Groupon boat tour with her partner, Sahar Bayat. But the day trip took an unexpected turn when Sahar proposed.

Bree didn’t suspect a thing, even with a photographer and videographer “randomly” on board. After the proposal at the front of the boat, Sahar, 34, directed Bree’s attention to a nearby bridge.

“That’s all your friends and family,” Sahar said, revealing a cheering crowd holding a “Will you marry me?” sign. The proposal also caught the attention of bystanders along the Riverwalk, who joined the ovation — turning the private moment into a joyful public celebration.
