What are Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan doing in Australia?

April 14, 2026Updated April 15, 2026, 2:13 p.m. ET

Harry and Meghan just touched down in Australia.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex landed in Australia Tuesday, April 14, for a four-day visit, their first since a trip in 2018.

Prince Harry, wearing a navy suit and white shirt, and Duchess Meghan, wearing a matching navy dress by a Sydney-based designer, according to Reuters, first stopped for a visit to the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne.

The couple took part in activities in the hospital's therapeutic garden, spoke to children and posed for photos with patients. Harry called one handmade sign welcoming the couple "beautiful." Meanwhile, Meghan helped serve food at a Melbourne women's domestic violence shelter.

The couple later joined with veterans and their families for activities at the Australian National Veterans Arts Museum. The couple also colored-coordinated again, with Harry in a stone brown button-down shirt and slacks, and Meghan in a tan sleeveless turtleneck and matching brown skirt and jacket.

The couple last visited Australia as working royals before they infamously stepped back from their senior royal roles in 2020 due to media intrusion and racist coverage, eventually taking residence in California. The couple and their two children – Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, who did not join the trip this week – currently live in Montecito, California.

Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, arrive at the Australian National Veterans Arts Museum in Southbank on April 14, 2026, in Melbourne.

Their 2018 trip was notable in that it came just five months after their royal nuptials, and Meghan announced her first pregnancy hours after landing in Sydney.

The Sussexes will travel to Australia's capital, Canberra, on Wednesday to meet with veterans, before attending a mental health summit in Melbourne on Thursday and sailing and rugby events in Sydney on Friday. Meghan will remain in Sydney over the weekend to host a paid wellness retreat featuring yoga, manifestation and sound healing at a luxury beach hotel.

In February, the couple traveled to the Middle East for a two-day trip in Jordan, at the invitation of Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization.
